Critical Zone

Interactive installation  

Critical Zone begins with the idea that in the Anthropocene humans approach nature as a resource to be used, altered and exploited, rather than something that exists with its own agency. By adopting a more-than-human perspective, this piece seeks to shift this relationship, suggesting that nature does not require human intervention to reveal its own forms of beauty.

The installation is an audio-reactive and interactive sand table where the projection mapping invites participants to engage with the surface. With each touching, shaping or smoothing the surface, the visual and sound scope changes, reflecting on human-nature relation.
