Performaxxing is a 3D-scanned low-poly simulated world where the player gets to observe three NPCs (non-player characters) talking and navigating through the world. Each character is built from a prescripted archetype from which an AI model generates behaviour, dialogue, and action in real time. The player becomes an observant agent, rotating the camera and looking from different angles.
The project is built on the following research question: How does the introduction of AI into NPC behaviour reflect and reinforce the performative conditions of contemporary culture? Or in simple terms - what does it say about us trying to build characters that perform being human, better and better.
